Tomorrow is Veterans Day, an important time to remember and honor those who have served our country so honorably. Whether they made it home safely, were injured or made the ultimate sacrifice for this nation, every veteran deserves our praise, respect and thanks.
As the daughter and wife of Marine veterans, I also know what it’s like to worry about the safety of your loved ones. The families and spouses of America’s heroes need our support, and I know we all thank them for giving their country a part of their family.
I also want to especially recognize the many veterans who choose to continue serving their country by working here at the Department and across government. We have veterans serving in all modes and offices, and I am so very proud to work along side all of you.
Thank you, again, to all of America’s veterans for your service and sacrifice.
-Secretary Peters

Thank you for your warm words, Secretary Peters. Hopefully they remind people to remember and pray for our country's true heroes, the men and women on the battlefield.

It is simply a tragedy when you here about one of our own being falsely accused. Michael Behenna is an American soldier who was convicted and sentenced to 25 years in the death of an Al Qaeda terrorist in self-defense, February 2009. After reading the full story I was truly appalled. My heart stopped and I felt that if I did not do my part to show support and get his story out, then I was no different than the ones that convicted him. The terrible part about this is that, it was only after the trial that defense lawyers learned that the government's own forensic expert agreed with the soldier’s testimony that it was self-defense. Please read Michael’s story at Vet2Vetspace.com. It is a free site. So please spread the word. We have to take care of our own if we don’t look out for those that keep us safe why should they do the same for us. Please forward to get the word out. Thank you.
