Earlier today, Deputy Secretary John Porcari wrote a great blog post for Fast Lane. To thank him for his contribution, I thought it would be fun to share some fascinating photos of his recent trip to San Francisco.
Last week, Deputy Secretary Porcari traveled to the Bay Area to lead a Panama Canal listening session with Maritime Administrator David Matsuda.
The expanded canal will provide many benefits – and some challenges – to the maritime industry, and that’s why studying the changes that the widened Panama Canal will create is so important. Last week’s session provided participants an opportunity to not only learn more about the Panama Canal study, but to become part of an ongoing dialogue that we look forward to continuing.
While in San Francisco, Deputy Secretary Porcari was able to fulfill a lifelong dream – touring behind the scenes of the Golden Gate Bridge. Having biked across the bridge when he lived in San Francisco, he always wanted to climb it, and with the help of the Bay Area Toll Authority, he was able to see his dream realized.
